Promo Code Module

The Promo Code Module adds a discount code input field to your cart drawer, allowing customers to apply promotional codes before proceeding to checkout.

How It Works

When a customer enters a promo code in the cart drawer:

1. The code is validated against your Shopify discounts
2. If valid, the discount is applied and shown in the cart totals
3. If invalid, the configured error message is displayed

The discount carries through to checkout automatically.

Enabling the Module

Check the Enable promo code functionality option to activate the promo code field in your cart drawer.

Promo Code Settings

Customize the text displayed in the promo code section.

Placeholder Text

The hint text shown inside the input field before customers type anything.

• Default: “Enter promo code”

Button Text

The text displayed on the apply button.

• Default: “Apply”

Error Message

The message shown when a customer enters an invalid discount code.

• Default: “The entered coupon code is invalid.”

Creating Discount Codes

Important: Shopify Discounts

The Cart Upsells promo code field validates and applies discounts that you create in your Shopify Admin. You must create your discount codes directly in Shopify for them to work.

To create discount codes:

1. Go to your Shopify Admin
2. Navigate to Discounts
3. Click Create discount
4. Configure your discount (percentage off, fixed amount, free shipping, etc.)
5. Set the discount code that customers will enter

The “Open Shopify Discounts” button at the bottom of the module settings takes you directly to your Shopify Discounts page.
