Upsells Module
The Upsells Module displays product recommendations inside the cart drawer to encourage customers to add more items to their order. Create rules to show relevant products based on cart contents, subtotal, or item count.
Enabling the Module
Section titled “Enabling the Module”Toggle Upsells on or off using the Enable/Disable button at the top of the module settings.
Upsells Rules
Section titled “Upsells Rules”Rules determine when and what upsell products to show. Each rule has two parts: When (the condition) and Then (the products to display).
Creating a Rule
Section titled “Creating a Rule”Click Add rule to create a new upsell rule. You’ll be presented with a modal to configure the rule.
Rule Settings
Section titled “Rule Settings”Each rule includes:
- Rule name: A descriptive name to identify the rule (e.g., “Shoe accessories upsell”)
- Enabled: Toggle to activate or deactivate the rule
When Conditions
Section titled “When Conditions”The “When” section defines what triggers the upsell to appear.
Cart Contains Items
Section titled “Cart Contains Items”Show upsells based on what products are in the cart.
Applies to:
- All products: Trigger for any product added to cart
- Specific products: Trigger only when certain products are in the cart
- Specific collections: Trigger when products from specific collections are in the cart
Match operators (for specific products/collections):
- Any: Trigger if any of the selected items are in cart
- All: Trigger only if all selected items are in cart
- None: Trigger if none of the selected items are in cart
Cart Subtotal
Section titled “Cart Subtotal”Show upsells based on the cart total amount.
Operators:

Example: Show upsells when cart subtotal is greater than $50.
Item Count
Section titled “Item Count”Show upsells based on the number of items in the cart.
Uses the same operators as Cart Subtotal.
Example: Show upsells when cart has 3 or more items.
Then Actions
Section titled “Then Actions”The “Then” section defines what products to display as upsells.
Show Specific Products
Section titled “Show Specific Products”Select individual products to recommend. Search by product title or SKU.
Show Specific Collections
Section titled “Show Specific Collections”Select entire collections. Products from these collections will be displayed as upsell suggestions.
Managing Rules
Section titled “Managing Rules”The rules table displays all your configured upsell rules:

Design
Section titled “Design”Layout Type
Section titled “Layout Type”Choose how upsell products are displayed in the cart drawer:
Carousel
Section titled “Carousel”Products are displayed in a horizontal carousel that customers can swipe or scroll through. Best for:
- Showing multiple products without taking up too much vertical space
- Mobile-friendly browsing experience
- When you have many upsell products to display
Products are displayed in a vertical list, one per row. Best for:
- Detailed product information display
- When you want customers to focus on each product
- Simpler, more traditional layout
Syncing Products
Section titled “Syncing Products”If you’ve recently added products to your Shopify store, click Sync products in the rule editor to refresh the product list. This ensures all your latest products are available for selection.
